苦！好苦！諾亞的惡物害得我好苦！
一切，從課本說起...
為了平易近人，我們的課本選擇很年輕的版本：英文是NIV(1978)，中文是和合本(1919)，兩者都是廿世紀的譯本，而中文從來都是回家自修的參考。事情發生在Genesis 7:2--
NIV:
"Take with you seven of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and two of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate,... "
和合本：
"凡潔淨的畜類，你要帶七公七母；不潔淨的畜類，你要帶一公一母； "
中文，我向來不以為憑，所以當同學們說沒錯時，我並沒有被安慰到...只見英文的句型模稜兩可：
如 果後者的"two of every kind"的"two"是合計，那是一公一母沒錯，但是前者的"seven of every kind"就不可能是七公七母，而是合計七隻，荒謬，因為不成對；如果前者的"seven of every kind"是七公七母，那後者的"two of every kind"就是二公二母，絕不是中文本所言的一公一母。
於是，我答應大家，追查下去，跟大家說個明白。(我幾乎聖經不離包包地讀著，可是就是很難接受太年輕的版本，書包裡1611年的欽定本，我明明記得寫得很清楚...我咧...)

第一步，把當代的譯本能看懂的查一遍。大抵，除了英文譯本外，各國的譯本都算年輕。英文的譯本很早就有，以前有不少人冒著生命的危險偷譯聖經，早在1517年馬丁路德宗教革命之前，英文的譯本已經不止一，二了。所以，第二步，才是讀英語各版本，往前追遠一點。第三步，最後殺手鐧，祭出拉丁文聖經－St. Jerome's Vulgate (西元五世紀)，這是我的極限了，再遠就沒辦法了。
第一步:
和合本:凡潔淨的畜類，你要帶七公七母；不潔淨的畜類，你要帶一公一母；
新譯本:潔淨的牲畜，你要各帶七公七母；不潔淨的牲畜，你要各帶一公一母；
思高本:由一切潔淨牲畜中，各取公母七對；由那些不潔淨的牲畜中，各取公母一對；
牧靈本:在每一種潔淨的動物裏，你要各選雄雌七對，在不潔淨的動物裏，只選雄雌一對。
French Darby: De toutes les bêtes pures tu prendras sept par sept le mâle et sa femelle, et des bêtes qui ne sont pas pures, deux, le mâle et sa femelle; (很清楚,兩隻,一公一母)
French Louis Segond:Tu prendras auprès de toi sept couples de tous les animaux purs, le mâle et sa femelle; une paire (超清楚,一對) des animaux qui ne sont pas purs, le mâle et sa femelle;
German Elberfelder:Von allem reinen Vieh sollst du sieben und sieben zu dir nehmen, ein Männchen und sein Weibchen; und von dem Vieh, das nicht rein ist, zwei, ein Männchen und sein Weibchen; (很清楚,兩隻,一公一母)
German Luther (這本是赫赫有名的路德聖經唷):Aus allerlei reinem Vieh nimm zu dir je sieben und sieben, das Männlein und sein Weiblein; von dem unreinen Vieh aber je ein Paar, das Männlein und sein Weiblein. (太清楚了,一對,一隻公的加一隻母的)
Hungarian Karoli (匈牙利可羅禮聖經): Minden tiszta baromból hetet-hetet vígy be, hímet és nõstényét; azokból a barmokból pedig, a melyek nem tiszták, kettõt-kettõt, hímet és nõstényét.
(也不會看錯,一配一,公與母)
新改訳聖書:あなたは、すべてのきよい動物の中から雄と雌、七つがいずつ、きよくない動物の中から雄と雌、一つがいずつ、(公與母,各一)
Dutch Staten Vertaling: Van alle rein vee zult gij tot u nemen zeven en zeven, het mannetje en zijn wijfje; maar van het vee, dat niet rein is, twee, het mannetje en zijn wijfje. (兩隻,一公一母)
從第一步看來，應該是一公一母沒錯，那NIV怎會譯成那副德性？
第二步(做學問，真的很累人)：歷代英文版聖經－
＊the Wycliffe Bible(威克里夫聖經，1395):Of alle clene lyuynge beestis thou schalt take bi seuene and bi seuene, male and female; forsothe of vnclene lyuynge beestis thou schalt take bi tweyne and bi tweyne, male and female;(糟糕，又不清楚了，seven by seven, two by two，後者怎麼看都像是兩對)
＊Bishop's Bible (主教聖經，1568): Of euery cleane beast thou shalt take with thee seuen and seuen, the male and his female, but of vncleane cattell two, the male and his female. (這裡很清楚，兩隻，公母合計)
＊Geneva Bible (日內瓦聖經，1587)：Of euery cleane beast thou shalt take to thee by seuens, the male & his female: but of vncleane beastes by couples, the male & his female. (前面是七對沒錯，seven的後面有加上s，這是中古英文一直到文藝復興的寫法，可是後面看起來又像是兩對了－couple是二，後面加了s，有沒有看到？我快瘋了。)
＊ King James Bible (欽定本，1611)： Of euery cleane beast thou shalt take to thee by seuens, the male and his female: and of beastes that are not cleane, by two, the male and his female.
(超清楚，這就是我每天帶著唸的版本！看到沒？seven加了s，two沒有加s，所以是兩隻，不是兩對，是公母合計兩隻，是一對啦！)
＊ Darby Bible (達彼聖經，1889)：Of all clean beasts thou shalt take to thee by sevens, a male and its female; but of the beasts that are not clean two, a male and its female. (哈哈！清楚，兩隻，公與母)

＊Amplified Bible (詳註本，1965)：Of every clean beast you shall receive and take with you seven pairs, the male and his mate, and of beasts that are not clean a pair of each kind, the male and his mate,(不會有謬誤，七對，一對)
就是NIV(有1978跟1984兩版)最令人困惑：Take with you seven of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and two of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, (我又冒火了！)
從第二步看來，應該更明朗了，應該是兩隻，也就是一對。
第三步(我快暈了...):
我的極限，五世紀之拉丁文聖經－
St. Jerome's Vulgate (聖熱羅尼莫聖經):
ex omnibus animantibus mundis tolle septena septena masculum et feminam de animantibus vero non mundis duo duo masculum et feminam
Yes!此處的七是複數"septena"(單數常作septem,septimus等)，有 by sevens(有加s喔)的意思，而二是單數"duo"(複數常作duae)。所以，真相大白：善物(蹄全裂，會反哺的)帶七對，惡物帶兩隻，公母各一，也就是一對！
就算是確定了吧，我也追不上去了。
